About Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) Peace Winds Japan is a Japanese Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1996. The organization has provided humanitarian and development assistance to people affected by forced displacement and natural disasters in over 20 countries worldwide. PWJ launched its mission in Kenya in 2012 and has since implemented projects funded by various UN agencies (.UNHCR, UN-Women, UNFPA, IOM, WFP, UNICEF), ECHO, the Government of Japan, and the Japan Platform (JPF). Currently, PWJ is the lead implementing partner for UNHCR in the WASH, Shelter, and Logistics sectors in the Kakuma and Dadaab refugee operations. Additionally, PWJ runs livelihoods programs, focusing on food security, skills development for women and youth empowerment, as well as sanitation and hygiene activities in Turkana, Garissa, Baringo, and West Pokot counties.
